Yerbo
Web Onboarding Optimization
Results
Yerbo is a mental wellbeing platform for tech teams, originally built as a Slack-based tool.
As the product evolved, we needed to show value earlier and reduce friction—especially for managers hesitant to go through procurement processes just to test the product.
Research revealed a major drop-off at the Slack installation step, largely due to required permissions. Managers wanted a way to try the tool privately before involving their teams.
We redesigned the onboarding for a web-first experience, focused on team leads:
Removed the need to install the Slack bot to try the tool
Clarified that Slack could be installed at a personal level, bypassing corporate approval
Delivered immediate value through a web-based burnout survey and personal insights
Introduced free trial prompts to encourage team exploration
Used empty states and banners to showcase value even without team data
Iterated quickly based on user interviews, product analytics, and internal feedback
The new experience significantly increased burnout survey completions, helping users reach their “aha” moment faster. We’re continuing to streamline setup and test new acquisition paths.
